The highly-anticipated rematch will see WBC Champion Flyweight World Champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (43-4-1, 39 KOs) defend his title against former champion Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez (46-1-0, 38 KOs). The venue is still to be announced for the fight that will take place on Saturday, September 9.

The two last battled in March of 2017 in a grueling 12-round fight that ultimately resulted in a controversial majority decision where Sor Rungvisai was declared the winner. Given such a tight result, an immediate rematch was ordered so there would be no question who the champion would be.

Despite his strong record, Sor Rungvisai, the southpaw from Thailand, was the clear underdog going into his most recent bout with Chocolatito. In the first round, Sor Rungvisai actually managed to knock Chocolatito to the ground, but the fight continued through all 12 brutal rounds. While Sor Rungvisai was announced as the victor, the crowd both cheered and booed, clambering for a rematch that they will soon receive.

Chocolatito is the first Nicaraguan to win world titles in four weight classes, breaking the record set by his mentor, Alexis Arguello, who had three. Until his recent loss to Sor Rungvisai, Chocolatito was considered the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. Additionally, his devastating defeat brought an end to his 46-win, 12-year winning streak.

"I'm honored to share the ring again and defend the WBC Super Flyweight Title against Roman Gonzalez," said Sor Rungvisai. "He is a legend and the best fighter I have faced."

"I'm ready to go back into battle and reclaim my WBC Super Flyweight Championship from Sor Rungvisai," said Chocolatito. "I know what I have to do to become victorious and with God's help I will be champion once again."
